Against The Tide Of Time - Poem by Seema Chowdhury

Like sand castles on the beach
Our dreams also perish
Against the tide of time
Where we see
The emptiness of the woven twigs
And unpleasant thought, fear and anger
Holding on and crushing us
Under the heavy burden
Of emotional baggage
We see our own life's pattern
With mysterious dimensions
In hectic and uncertain world
And then we have to get through
Life's hardest journey
With untrodden depths of the wilderness
Where world seemed to be silently observing
And stepping out from behind the shadow
Of suffering,
Bitterness,
Hostility,
Tough times,
And tangled web..............

And then we have to get through
    Life's hardest journey
With untrodden depths of the wilderness

A poem well prepared. Words well expressed. A message well communicated. Thank you.

I enjoyed how the water imagery is tied together with such fluidity that it emulates the only constant, time, destroying our dreams. This is sophisticatedly portrayed and is ended successfully, I believe, through the singular words broken with the commas to show how the growing ferocity of the water causes a life to become a ‘tangled web’ or limited, and through the intricate nature of the web, hard to escape when considering the inferred vulnerability of the metaphor: ‘sand castle’. This is a thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking poem to read.9 (Report) Reply

I like the opening 3 lines and your intermingling your thoughts with nature. The images are well chosen and your meanings very well expressed. (Report) Reply

    Poet Sis
It’s the flip side of life
But bright side must be also acknowledged…
We all know life is a challenge …face it …and your poem helps to stand with straight spine...and to time infinitum nothing is eternal …temporal but …thanks for showering such idea of ephemeral phenomena…

dark days will pass with the light of hope........but will sand castles remain untrodden?
castles to sturdy remain against the tide of time...a tall order in the face of reality...
    accessible to few!

Time and tide waits for no one. One has to take a positive attitude in his or her life and go ahead towards the goal. (Report) Reply
