All You Can Say - Poem by Madeleine Wolf

All You Can Say

Is that all you can say?
With my emotions you play,
Please don’t treat me this way.

You smile and grin,
But this smile grows thin.
You now frown.
Your smile is turned down.

Let me see
That smile again
A friend
Of your’s
I want to be.

You smile,
But tell me to leave you alone.
Why do you act so vile?
Is that all you can say?
Stop acting like a child.

I tell you
To stop and listen better
You push me
And leave me with a blister.

Is that all you can say?
You cruel boy.
I am not your toy,
Not a doll in your collection.
Not your possession.

Unlike a doll,
You can’t let me fade.
I didn’t build a wall
Between you and me.
Unlike you,
You wicked boy,
I stayed.

You tell me
I am nothing,
Stupid,
Not worth a thing.
Now I wonder why,
You awful boy,
Why to me did you cling?
You make my heart sting.

As you go,
You shout in anger.
Why you do this,
I do not know.

Did I make you mad?
You were the one who treated me bad,
And made me sad.

You turn
Looking bitter.
But you see,
You wretched boy,
I can do better.

I pick up a book,
You don’t look.
I throw it,
You won’t know what hit
You.

Against the back
Of your head
I hear it smack.

You curse at me
“Bitch! ”
I see the blood trickle down,
But I don’t frown.

Holding back tears
I scream “You bastard! ”
I pick up a sharp door wedge.
I am about to go off the edge.

You turn to run,
And I scream
“Run son! ”
But I run after
You,
The wedge is my dagger.

Luckily, I am faster.
For you,
This will be a disaster.
I run towards you
Driving the wedge right through.
I hear it crunch through
Your spine
And hit your beating heart.
I hear no more beating,
I played the grim reaper’s part.

I see the blood flow
A crimson glow.
Beneath you a pool.
To me, you were so cruel.

I am stained with your blood,
It covers my arms and hands,
Beneath me, it is a flood.
It runs out of your glands.

You should not have played
With me.
While you thought you had won a victory,
I studied your strategy and stayed.

I waited and hoped it would change,
That your ways would rearrange.
When I saw they would not,
I came up with my plot.

I am not as innocent
As you thought me to be.
I never gave you a hint.
What I am capable of,
I never let you see.

I look down and ask
“Is that all you can say? ”
The only sound is silence,
Your face covered in a death mask.

I touch your cheek.
It’s cold as ice,
Just like what used to be your heart.
Your love
You never let me have a peak of.

Your face is lifeless and still
Just like you
A ghostly chill.
All I can do is laugh
At this beautiful blood bath.
Hurtful words you will never say to
Me
Ever
Ever
Again.
