Always, Always Be You - Poem by Ronberge (anno tercio)

As my teenaged fingers trace your name
In wet cement, Next to mine
On the untried, un-dried sidewalk
A message so visible and yet easy to ignore
Now we’re part of a local concrete folklore
Me, you with others too

As the water sounds sing your name
The golden god Apollo forgot to shine
Your face bathes in the pouring warmth
Of that hot august day afternoon rain shower
That runs its fingers on your skin like a lover
The world is brand new

And My heart calls
To you
I thought you knew
That It’ll always,
Be you

As my salty eyes bleed your name
Seeping out of my restless mind
Memory already fades into a dream
Tears dance as only the dead can
And then jump from the office tower
Calling out to you

As the river carries your name
Already after so much time
To be gently caught then buried
In a feathered final resting pillow
I let Morpheus fold me in his mantle
and cradle the bruise that heals never
waiting to renew

Still My heart calls
To you
I thought you knew
That It’s always,
Been you

As I whisper in my own ears your name
Two broken souls swept in waves of wine
Drunk on Florida moonlight
As new love take its soaring flight
Into the chasm of liberating pleasure
Old makes way for new

As my memory feigns to recall your name
Under the Fort Lauderdale wooden pier
Playing lover’s game- ménage à deux
Until the many fabrics of us disappear
I thank our lady Venus that Spring Break is here
as a prayer for you

Still My heart calls
To you
Though you never really knew
That It’s always,
Been you
