America - Poem by bethlehem maresa

i hear the ring of freedom
i see the 'Drinking Gourd' above,
i am reminded of bondage transformed into love

i hear the diverse languages
i see the unique faces,
i am reminded of far-away places

i hear the children laughing
i see them as they play,
i am reminded that peace is here to stay

i hear the people mourning
i see Old Glory waving true,
i am reminded of the soldiers who died for me and you

i hear this nation praying
i see them unite as one,
i am reminded of the many freed by God's only Son
