America Is A Police State Poem by Dennis Ryan

America Is A Police State

Monday, June 8,2020

- written in memory of George Floyd (October 14,1973—May 25,2020)

The powerful do not relinquish power willingly—
this is a fact of history, a record of human struggle.
America is an enduring police state and protests
against police killings are not going to change that.
The killings will recommence—it's only a matter
of when and where and how often if not already.
