Appearance Poem by Willis Martyn

Appearance

Rating: 5.0

We place much
on
appearance.
Less
on
what it conceals.

Does a beautiful face
in equal measure
a heart
reveal?

And those with beautiful hearts,
encased within life's
less than idyllic form.

To know them,
is true to say,

a gift without cheap wrapping!
A no lesser
gift indeed!

By appearance and a shallow wanting
we so easily,
can be,
deceived!

This is a brilliant way of saying beauty comes from within and not what is on the outside. A true poetic observation.

I like your style. No fancy words and no elaborate, puzzling imagery. Just the truth presented in the beauty of words arranged in a way that only the truly gifted ones could ever do. If only I can write like you. A perfect 10!

Astraight forwards philosophy, willis. Put togesther with skill. I like that you have avoided rhyme as this would only give the piece a maudlin feel. You seem to have a good grasp (I suspect inateness) of how a piece should read, howit should pan-out. This is a fine piece.
