Appetite For Cool - Poem by GodBody O.G

The goal is not to pause but to break down these walls.
Build up the youth let them know the truth.
Stop violence while ending silence.
We're slowly dieing and no one's even trying.
From Columbine to Katrina the world's getting meaner.
They're those getting away with murder
and countless atrocities we've never heard a.
All over babies having babies is cool still
then those babies grow-up thinking it's cool to kill.
Brought up with no discipline
but responsible for the shit they're in.
This nation once thought it was cool
to hang brothers right after school.
Gentrification packed us into tighter quarters
and the rich want a thanx for what they've brought us.
Once it was cool to be a street thug
but now you're stuck with no room to budge.
Before it was cool to be out playing late
now the gangs roam spreading their brand of hate.
The KKK rally and that's cool and good
bet you they won't step foot in the hood.
A kid kills his cousin while playing and does life
but pedophiles roam our streets everynight.
They have rights and it's cool right
maybe it's time we end our cool appetite.
Before it was cool for a white man to split oak
now interracial couples are all a big joke.
Some think it's cool to do drugs, so many are dieing.
Rather become a fool, instead of even trying.
The time is comming, the end's getting close
we gotta be careful we don't cool overdose.
