As Hands Love - Poem by Zara Jamshed

A hand strikes another with tender force
A universal gesture of acquaintanceship
In a perfect clap of a beat, hinting at a rhythm
Soon to be drowned out by the symphony of a raging corridor

A hand strikes another with tender force
And proceeds to clasp the other in a squeeze of affection
With the constricting of ventricles
Of pulsing hearts, sparks the fire of attraction

A hand strikes another with tender force
And out of rhythm, rest withing on another
So fingers, once untouched, now interlace within perfect spaces
That God designed to entwine around others

So with fingers wound around like vines
Love begins
