As I Lay Down - Poem by Michael P. McParland
As I lay down now to rest
I reach out to touch your hand.
I need to feel your presence here,
I'm so very tired and I want to hold you near.
If only I could show and share with
you the depth of everything I feel.
As I lay down for just a couple hours
I reach out to you for a hug from
the woman I so deeply miss.
I need to feel your comfort around
and in me at this time.
My sweet lady how I just want to make you proud,
to feel your love right by me every day.
As I lay down for some small rest
please come hold me my true love I dearly miss.
Please give me strength and give me peace,
you are so truly special my Angel Queen.
I love you dearly please know that sacred truth.
I'm scared and lonely without you.
