Attraction Poem by Tex T Sarnie

Attraction

Rating: 5.0

From a distance I noticed your shape.
Then I saw your figure, hair, face and eyes.
You were a picture of outstanding beauty,
and you had struck me more than I had realised.

Throughout the rest of the day and night
I thought of nothing but you.
The next day I saw you again and my heart raced,
but I was at a loss to know what to say or do.

Without thinking I asked your name, you smiled at me,
with the intensity of your blue green eyes and perfect lips.
"Why do you want to know my name? " you asked,
as you parted your long brunette hair with your fingertips.

You seemed surprised that I should ask such a question.
It was as if you had never been asked your name before.
Your voice filled me with excitement and encouragement,
and your smile did even more.

Hearing your sweet, soft, clear, voice for the first time
gave me a strange uncomfortable feeling deep down inside.
How could you possess such an array of attributes and not know it?
I felt so unworthy, embarrassed, and stupid, all impossible to hide.

A short pause followed between us.
You smiled at me and I smiled at you.
"Shall I tell you my name? " I said.
"Yes, " you said, "if you want to."

I gave you my name and you seemed thrilled.
So, I asked if you would like to meet tomorrow afternoon,
and you said yes, so we arranged a time and place,
and tomorrow couldn't come too soon.

I felt so excited and pleased with myself.
Butterflies in my stomach went and came back again.
It was like living in a dream before I had fallen to sleep.
I was in love with you and I didn't even know your name.
