Back To Zion Series #1 - Poem by michael mpofu

He did not lay his hand on me
Neither did he send his men to know more about me.
Say nothing about me, you son of the west.
Convince me not that you’re the one,
Yes, He knew me before I was born
And will know me even after I die.
So shut up! Know the Lord, and not me.

He did not give me a handful of that stone.
Neither did he take those papers for prayer.
He bestowed that gift in me that I might work
And gave me the strength, dominion and intelligence.
Told me to eat from my sweat,
And to Him, all my burdens I give.
He told me not to worry about tomorrow.
He knows tomorrow and he knows my potential.
So shut up, O you man of the West!
You give fish and He gives the fishing rod.

He did not give me water in a bottle.
I drink from the well, and will never thirst again.
How dare you say you ‘package’ the Great I am?
How dare you lock and keep him for a ceremony?
He knows that which I am suffering from
And He knows the cause and the cure.
Do not seek audience with my problem.
Go, close the door behind you and we will talk, He told me
Do not seek audience with my success.
What the right does well, He said the left shouldn’t know,
And on that night, he cured my disease.
On that day, He asked and they chose to be cast to the pigs.

Look, He is everywhere, just call on Him
Ask Him to open your eyes that you may see
Why push them to build it on empty tummies?
Why think it`s only in there, with you, that they find Him?
He said He does not stay in it.
Take care of your body, for it is His temple.
Does it only work with an agent?
Do we still not believe?
For the faith in me, He still does them.
For strengthening me as well, He does them.
The miracle lived in me, am still a living testimony.
Humbled by His faithfulness, I choose to suffer for Him
See me suffering, O you man of the west,
Don’t mistaken it as a curse, don’t say its lack.
Know it`s for Him and not you.
