Brand New Times - Poem by Dexsta Ray

The problem come when folks attempt to make things out to be
Like it's something when it's nothing
Satan crowding me
Throwing bitter flout at me
Hating since the old
I was shunned, cast down, then found my own grind
Learned to take it for myself and use my own mind
Now the devil coming back, acting like I own mine
What it really is...
The devil see a gold mine
Wanting what he see, throwing salt and trying to pour brine
These new years
Who is thinking 'bout some old times?
Take your hands up off of my… business
You can't hold mine
All this time and people still worried about me
I ain't even been aware of this
I'm out free
It seem we never get the picture 'til we down deep!
Focus on yourself, leave me alone, don't talk about me!
Brand new times
Old crap been dead
Carnal battles? I been rising up instead

People need to stop talking at me and about me
Like they know who I am
I don't fool with many
Lord knows

These haters still focused on me in these brand new times
Ha ha ah
I ain't even focused on that
I'm just handling my business
