This is just beautiful in its tenderness and quietness. It shows there is no STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS on an apology for bad faith in the past, now rendered good faith in the present. Imagine how this apology will enrich Gloria's life! And the man so apologizing has matured; he has no need to defend or even explain himself. He just gives a gift to Gloria with no further expectation on his part. It's a blessed moment. (Report) Reply

of course i would have liked to explain this to her more directly, but my attempts to locate her proved fruitless. lacking another way... thank you, daniel, for your compassionate reading and lovely comments. -glen

When I read your poem it was like Deja vu. There is something eternally romantic about kissing on a bridge. Enjoyed reading it tremendously.10+++ (Report) Reply

wow! thank you, ingeborg, for the strong affirmation. i'm glad you enjoyed it. basically i reported the dream as i remembered it- which is how a bridge came into the poem. a bridge certainly is an archetypal image of choice/indecision and transition (i think of munch's painting the scream) . with your comment it strikes me that i haven't mulled much on the images and meaning of the dream. mainly what impelled the poem was the desire to confess my wrongdoing and reach out (since my attempts at locating her were fruitless) . -glen

A fine write brought together by the colour and detail of simple reminiscence that some are able to so clearly use in poetry.
Good example of this. cheers Geoffrey.
