Bright As You - Poem by E.D. Campbell

I will not hide from you
this morning
because when it should be
it's not so bright anymore.

You wear beaded shirts
and red smiles
all awash in the sunlight
of elsewhere,
and you can't divide
that kind of love.

If only

could you wish some more of
you to me?
not so much more,
I promise,
but with it we could start
a proud sun fire
to shine with all our own.
