Broken Oceans - The Monster
You have to see the monster at least once.
It is creeping somewhere under the sink,
grab it before it slips through the gutter,
time oscillates between you and oblivion,
and it may need to speak a final, squeaky sigh,
before it dissolves gracefully in nothingness.
It is this monster that was too shy to speak,
or too furious to cry, boiling under the lid of pride.
At times you squeezed it hard into your sweaty arms,
or you hid behind the yellow curtains,
hoping it would not see you through, transparent like a feather,
never show you its filthy, promiscuous horn.
Yet, now it is here, this soggy, vilified tiger who stares at you,
having risen from the funnel of the broken oceans,
with no pride, but neither you have any left,
no authority to claim, what a relief!
Any broken ocean was once deeply frozen…
