Broken Promises

You promised me forever
But here we are apart
You promised me your love
But never gave your heart

You promised sunlit skies
You promised me no pain
But skies are dark and empty
And all I see is rain

You promised me you’d keep your vows
Until your dying day
But broken vows are all I see
All along the way

I loved you more than life itself
And gave you all of me
What a crime to think that all the time
You couldn’t let it be

I leave you with just one true wish
That someday you will know
The love I had for you
And feel its precious glow
