Bullet Through His Brain Poem by Saumya xoxo

Bullet Through His Brain

Rating: 5.0

'Crafty as a serpent
In a cunning game'
True, it wasn't a war
It was a trap
That he couldn't escape.

He was just a pawn in your game,
He didn't know it would be so lame
It's funny how you put him to blame.
When you don't even remember his name.

'Kits won't be so heavy And the way won't be so long'
It was a myth
That the lad believed.
If the way wasn't so long,
Why did he cry in the darkness of the trenches?
If the way wasn't so long,
Why was his body blood-soaked?
My dear, If the way wasn't so long,
Why did he put a bullet through his brain?

He was lost in the darkness of pain,
He couldn't even see the door to the aid.
He cried, shivered and screamed,
For the loss of humanity.
He cried blood, bled tears,
But pain and sorrows didn't disappear.

The body fell in front of me,
His blood flowed so mercilessly.
My head pounded louder than the rain.
Oh Lord, why didn't I stop him,
When he put a bullet through his brain?

He's gone and now who's to blame?
You smug-faced crowd that cheers,
When soldiers march by
We wear a mask, fake a smile,
Hide the pain.
Try looking into our misty eyes,
Tell me how many times we have died.

Propaganda, white lies, deception.
Oh Lord, if he knew you were insane,
He wouldn't have put a bullet through his brain
