Bunch Of Roses Poem by Lucifera Santez

Bunch Of Roses

Rating: 4.4

I walk along his grave,
the same obsidian headstone
gleaming in sun
his name carved in archaic letters
and the dates
of his death and birth.
I bend down
a necessity
rather than revere
I lay down the roses
on his non recent grave
years long habit
rather than respect
and then,
i walk away....................

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
in the memory of Edward Derwent, a way too painful memory which I wish would go to grave easily..................

years long habit rather than respect and then, i walk away.................... Just couldn't grasp the reason. Your biography is also a bit too sketchy. A little more elaboration, a little note, perhaps?

I don't really read poets bios but indulge in their work and that's how I real get to know them, to know how they see things and learn from their wisdom.. Well penned sad poem, even though the reason is unknown to us but the poem is great. Siya_! !

As time goes by the sadness is always waiting for those flowers but the memories live on, tactfully written..regards

This poem caught me unawares. I was expecting a flowery poem but found a powerful but subdued testimony of bereavement. Evocative and well written.

Lucifera reading it i can feel the abject misery behind the words. This is what life is about, you start something to remember someone and then it becomes a ritual very well expressed.
