Busted Flat Poem by George Hunter

Busted Flat

Busted flat in Aberdeen
A cheaper place I've never seen.
—Tried to borrow on my card
—Didn't think it should be that hard.
But they wouldn't lend me even a quid
No matter how I pleaded or what I did

Pinching pennies is their birthright
Hold on to your sporran with all your might.
—But if you lend me something big
—You'll make good profit on the vig.
And it would sure relieve my plight

So now I'm standing in the street
Resorting to begging so I can eat.
—I need some cash
—To renew my stash
A handout would be really neat.

If I can get a ticket to the U.S.A.
Everything will be O.K.
