Bye-Bye Love, Part Trois - The Ugly - Poem by Ronberge (anno tercio)

Bye-Bye Love
Yeah Babe, I heard it,
loud and clear
over the phone,
don’t think I didn’t.
You said ‘Oh, it’s you…’
but really meant to say
‘F-u-c-k off, loser! ’,
(well, isn’t it true?)
only then I knew,
I knew that
what was love
then friendship
was now over
(And to say I trusted you)
Was I naïve or what?
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
I like to think of myself
(you know I like to often)
as an orphaned sock
in the dirty
laundry batch
Missing his other half
and looking earnestly
for the best fashionable mismatch
Cute little analogy?
Yeah right…
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
You know it’s funny…
how I think I went to this party
to forget about you
and bury you,
meet other people and,
indulge in small talk
Instead I got stoned out on my ass
with a whole lotta of vodka.
Yep! Last thing I recall
was leaving the better part of your name
on the nearest available sidewalk
In retrospect
I think it was appropriate.
Maybe I overdid it?
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
As I crowded myself
in my bachelor pad
unfolding dates
with the likes of
Karen Price,
Roberta Vasquez and
Patricia Farinelli!
I sort of wondered:
What the hell did I ever see in you,
in your geography,
with your Saskatchewan
wheat field prairies?
(that means little or no mammaries)
Could it be I thought
you had a personality
to match
a good healthy pair of double Ds?
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
I sorta got used to the idea
of using your tombstone
as a urinal
and thus pay my respects
with pouring warm
monthly golden rain.
And if I’m bran-fiber-regular …
(I guess I don’t need to go further)
Well y’know,
It’d help grow the flowers.
The risk is getting caught
With my pants down
Now wouldn’t that be silly?
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
It’s too bad the White upper-class graduate trash
in the high-motivational drones-are-us career program
won the day
Instead of a guy with the heart in the right place
but always a misplaced wallet-
you guessed it That’s me
(I mean, of course if your MOTHER said HE was Okay!)
Funny how I always thought
class was something one had inside
not something born into.
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
We spent most of our time together
kidding ourselves,
thinking that we could make a difference,
that we could have been more.
Now look at us:
chose to follow the path beaten for you
coming home to your trust fund,
the only partner faithful to you,
instead of dancing,
making bonfires with your feet,
leaving behind the material,
just trying your hardest
to become the perfect sell-out meta-whore
And Me,
I live day to day,
not knowing where I’m heading,
a pay check away from bankruptcy
(like I like to say sarcastically) ,
I should be building a lucrative career
but I just don’t give a shit!
Plus I get off writing this stuff,
Imagine that
what does that say!
And no
I’m not changing the world
or writing the next greatest novel…
or living up to my full ‘potential’
Silly me!

Bye-Bye Love
Here I am
and what are you now to me?
Good question.
Hey I’ve got an answer.
(did you think I didn’t?)
Your memory
is something on which
I base many of my important decisions.
For instance
I never sleep with a girl less pretty than you
(fortunately you didn’t set the bar to high
added to the fact they make’em younger now)
and I always say to myself:
‘what would she do? ’
and then do the opposite.
Works for me!
What more can I say?
‘Instead of being in my bed
You’re in my head? ’
Naw, it’s been done
(I think therefore it must be)
Try this:
In the end you served your purpose well
I guess.
You were fertilizer. HA!
That’s all, baby,
Fertilizer for my life.
For my life to grow on.
And God know you were full of it!
What’s that?
When will I stop writing about ‘it’
and stop writing about ‘you’?
When I get ‘it’ and ‘you’ out of my system! ! !
But you know me…
Won’t be soon.
Silly me!

I cracked up at that part, Maybe i should have been expecting it - but it was unexpected lol.
