Celebrity Farce



Celebrity farce

Down the street, down the lane;
At the crowded crossing
I saw a woman standing alone
Old and gray, seemed beaten
By the chill of a winter’s day
At her anxious eye I glanced
And found a soul tormented
With the cruelty of policemen
Stopping her crossing the lane
Weak and timid, afraid to offer resistance
As one dignitary was about to pass the lane
May be a minister or an artist of fame
Stopping the movement of an old woman
For a dignity as if a God
Descending from heaven
To be escorted to paradise lane
The whole atmosphere
Echoing with the sounds of siren
And the woman jostled aside by careless policemen
One dignity stopped her movement
Stopped her to reach safe haven
With pomp and ceremony,
The event went on
And how pompous was ceremony
Surpassing the woman
When simplicity
Presented her meek distinction
Causing her soul to extinct even…………….
