Cheap Fix Poem by Joan Hart

Cheap Fix

Rating: 4.8

Your eyes blank and staring,
You’ve come so undone
It’s clear that you’re running
What's not is what from

There must be a hunger
You’re trying to feed
I can’t fill you up –
I’m not what you need

Is it not enough
To keep your feet on the ground?
Is it so great
This escape that you’ve found?

Tomorrow it all
Will catch up to you
This temporary fix
Is the cheapest of glues

You’ve become someone else –
I confuse the two
I can’t find the person
I thought I knew

I'm a rhythm and rhymer myself. So I love the rhymes you used. Wonderful. Someone after my own heart. I love the rhythm as well. Good job! GW62
