Cherokee - Poem by Donna G Fowler

Why did you have to go and leave me
Has it been a week today?
I didn’t even get to say good-bye
You left me on a Friday
I shall ever remember that day

I lay beside you as you lay ill
Heavy breathing in my ear
The warmth of you upon my skin
My friend of so many years
I will miss you now that you are gone

My companion for eleven years
The wet upon my cheeks, the tears
I wish you peace where you are now
You will forever be in my heart, , ,
Your fluffy fur, your soft meow..

Good bye friend….I love you

So nicely phrased. A very sad moment but you are successful in leaving us with an image of gratefulness and appreciation of this friend truly missed yet with the capacity of accepting what has happened. (Report) Reply
