Christmas Night - Poem by Danni Ske

Twas the night before Christmas
The bells were all singing
The halls were all crowded
Everyone was happy
Except me

One room
Left alone
Empty and abandoned
Except for me

The chair across from me looked like I felt
It was lonely
It was the only chair there
Except for mine

It was reserved
it was sacred
It was saved for him
No one believed he would come
Except me

He'd left me
Abandoned me
Gone over seas
He'd promised to return
But every one said 'He's gone' 'He couldn't have survived'
Everyone except me

Because I still held on
Hoping he'd come back
Hopin that maybe
Just maybe
That everyone would be wrong
Except me

On that Christmas night
I was right
