Civilization On Reverse Beat - Poem by santhana louis

CIVILIZATION ON REVERSE BEAT

A TASMAC - liquor shop is commencing
its business for the day
by folding its cranky wooden doors aside

daily indents - no dearth of supplies
new new products in tempting flavours
sales budget revision every fortnight
very good collections, surpassing targets

Rolling shields for best performers
Incentives added to consolidated wages
we never heard of any labour unrest
or shut down from the end of liquor barrels

why should some countries fight against drugs
let them also open licensed shops like us
with multiple warnings on the label to deter
filling the govt. coffin with abundant treasure -

again,
to be spent on the welfare of the collapsing masses

Louis Santhana

Note: as on January 2013, Tamilnadu has 6822 shops
with daily gross sales of Rs. 49 crores,
TASMACs
are not meant for richer sections - whooping sales
contribution from the poor sections & lower middle class, burden of state's economy runs on their shoulders.
