Cold - Poem by Lerato Mokhatla

10 October 2008

Body Shaking, goose bumps!
Bones aching, heart throbbing,
Coldness fills every vacant gap in my body
Feelings of loneliness enclose me
They reside in my previously warm space.

I long for an effectionate caress from the rays
Where has all the tenderness vanished to?
I miss the satisfying aroma of flowers in full bloom.

Cruel, bitter, fear-filled, burdened
Going through this cold world
Away with the cold!
Away with the cold!

I salute you warmth
Abide with me and be by my side forever.
