Come And Sleep Beside Me - Poem by Michael P. McParland
Sweet lady I need to lay down for
another long stretch of sleep.
I'm exhausted and beaten from being up
for countless hours along with the
many things weighing on my heart and mind.
So please come sleep beside me and help
all of these things drift away as we hold
each other forgetting the world and just
losing ourselves in our love and a world we'll
create together where we can escape and feel peace,
being safe together just snuggling, talking,
always sharing our many hopes and dreams.
A place for just you and me.
Come crawl into bed and sleep beside me.
I want nothing more than to begin and end every day
being in bed with you there in my arms knowing
you're never leaving because you're my wife and Angel.
Tonight will you grant me this early gift and come sleep beside me?
Chasing away the nightmares and coldness,
filling each other with comfort and peace
only provided by true lovers.
I'm sending you all my loving warmth and I can feel you as well,
but still I ask if you'll come sleep beside me with a
tight embrace of each other reassuring and fulfilling
that inner need of company and contact with the one you so cherish.
I love you sweet Kira and need you,
you mean more to me than you can possibly know.
So I ask you from the core of my loving soul.
Will you come sleep beside me where we will both feel better?
Our hearts beating as one healing in harmony a
s we both want and need,
finding our future right around the bend before us.
