Conquered - Poem by thamoula papayia

Storms swirling up above
Everyone hides away
Safely in the abyss of light
The soft rumbling sends an invitation
Out to the lonely
Come, and you can feel
It mocks and it murders
Sucks the life from the living
And gives to the inanimate
Its courage,
Its power
Mimicking, menacing
Whispering compromises of
Final freedom
The storm speaks
In the richest of tones
And the isolated
Will cautiously erupt
The loudening silence
It will conquer absolutely
And all the rest
Will give in to defeat
