Coronavirus Epidemic 2020
Elderly trapped at home in lock-down
No family or friends to visit and comfort them,
Grandchildren to kiss and hug, isolation suffocating.
Terrified of the world-wide murderous epidemic
Spreading out of control like a forest fire.
Millions infected with graveyards filling, humanity weeping.
Food ordered on the internet, delivered by supermarkets
Sanity threatened, days passing slowly, each one the same.
Neighbours, good Samaritans, come knocking on the door
Offering help and support, trying to lift the depression
Collecting groceries and medical prescriptions.
Watching TV, listening to the radio, reading books
The mind seeks desperate for stimulation to remain sane
Loneliness overwhelming, crushing and despairing.
