Counterproductive Thoughts Of An Insomniac Poem by Michael Matsuda

Counterproductive Thoughts Of An Insomniac

Rating: 5.0

Dismay, disarray;
Marionette, let me make you who you are today
Put on that schizophrenic mask, smile and play
These phantom limbs and phantom thoughts
Will contort everything you have all for naught.
I will tell you why you exist
Let me play with your psyche, give it a twist

Brainwashed, brain tossed;
Let me laugh and your gains; all your loss
Your life and soul are the token to the cost
Nullified everything you believed into a void
All the more reason to feel more paranoid
Frantically look around this world of delirium
As the monks hymn that final hymn; A requiem

Mind. Mine! Where did my mind go?
All my optimism is knotted in the undertow
Smile that pessimistic smile, denizens, they’ll never know
Fallen angel, swing that scythe to this timeless death
Expel, exhale, and curse all with your final breath
No squealing, things are not as they seem
All in this parallel universe; life is but a dream
