Crushed Poem by Rachel Banen

Crushed

Been living in a daydream, a mere fantasy.
Things seemed to be 'normal, ' but there was more underneath the surface.
Laughter and happiness filled the air, but there were whispers through it all.
Thoughts I thought I would never face again were creeping up behind me, and were there all along.
Nothing will be the same.
Grandmas and dads tell me the same thing,
'We love you very much.'
I know, but do they know that isn't what's on my mind?
No, they don't. Poor fools.
Been living in a daydream..
A mere fantasy.
