Daddy Poem by Mitzi Albright

Daddy

Where are you daddy?
I’m scared of what’s happening to me
No one cares daddy
And I can’t make them see
I wasn’t being bad
I just knew no better than to be me
No one taught me daddy
How to be afraid
No one said they cared
No one watched while I played
They forgot that I was there daddy
They didn’t have the time
They turned their heads
Never taught me how to mind
They saw me as a burden
And fumbled to make room
They left me all alone
And I grew up too soon
I needed you daddy
To show me how to grow
I had to do it by myself
And now I just don’t know
You should have been there for me
You never should have died
I didn’t get enough of you
And everybody lied
Now I’m old and worn
My life has been too hard
And I’m full of scorn
It’s all because you left
And I wasn’t done with you
Where are you daddy?
What am I to do?
