Darkness Poem by Nosheen Irfan

Darkness

Rating: 4.9

Within me I carry a world of darkness
It’s so deep that my mind goes blind
It makes me see things in a false light
And I feel like I have lost the fight
Open the windows, give me some light
To illuminate the depths of my insight

This darkness has taken up my entire being
It has occupied my body, invaded my soul
Let me rid of it, before it spreads around
And swallows up the beaming stars
Open the doors, give me some air
To expand the limits of my vision

O’ darkness, leave so I can find my way
In this world of thorns and indelible stains
Leave so I can spy the distant seas
And find far-reaching sight of a sailor
Leave so I can walk straight on my own
Without false hands to carry me there

Thinking is the characteristic that is the evidence of a light within us, we call it soul, once one starts thinking in fact he starts attacking the darkens within him. The poem reflects that the poetess has a strong desire to remove the darkness within him, now who can stop the eternal light to rule her body and soul. Slowly and gradually the sun of truth will rise on the horizons of life and she will find the abstract truth that love of all living and non living creatures is love of God, and when this divine love will reach its climax, she will herself become a light. Ranjha Ranjha ratte ratte aape ei Ranjhe hoi or Lali mere lal ki jit dekhoon ut lala Lali dekhan main gai main bhi ho gai Lal.

Illuminationg. At times, we see better in the dark--the compass is our heart instead of our eyes, i think.

The melancholy feelings are most aesthetically expressed. Beautiful poetry.
