Dear Love - Poem by Michael P. McParland
Dear love I just arose not long ago
from my short restless rest
and I'm thinking of you hoping you are well.
Wishing I could talk to you
there's so much I was thinking of while
laying down that I want and need to tell and share.
The deepest thoughts and feelings I have in me,
and I can only ever do that with you my love.
If not they must stay inside forever to
protect my heart from this world.
These are things only you can ever know
and I would share.
Dear love I smile with every thought of you,
I know you send me your deep love and warmth
just as I do for you,
and it helps so very much but not like if you were here.
Yes I'm sad in many ways but happy because
I know you love me and I believe we will have our day,
it's the endless waiting weighing on my emotional heart,
you don't make me sad you give me pride and cheer abound,
I love you deeply and more than could possibly be measured.
Dear love please just know my loving care is deep
and feel my soul as it embraces you,
it helps to at least know you feel its touch.
Take strength and courage from its warmth.
Dear love I want to have you here,
in my arms holding you and talking soft,
just above a whisper reverently telling
that I deeply love you and want to be together
as long as time itself.
That you are my Angel and the greatest gift would
be to have you as my wife.
Dear love you are the greatest blessing God has
ever sent into my life,
I cherish you like the treasure you truly are,
sweet dear love you are everything that's right.
