Dear Valentine - Poem by jon barron

This time of year
Is one I do fear
For all that it’s got
Reminds all that I’ve lost
Of just how I’ll never get to hold you again
How I wish we’d returned to what we had way back then

I don’t regret any words that I spoke
Or the letters I sent
My only wish for the time that we spent
That you smiled truly once
For this wish all my heart wants
To know that your happy when I’m not around
If I just knew I could die, hit the ground

Move on with my life
Make my pain go away
It’s not a lot, just what I ask for each day
To tell the truth, my regrets are just one
That I annoyed you at all and now you have gone
Right now I hold just dreams for our life
Of children, a happy home, taking you as my wife

I can’t see you right now
Although nothing I want more
Just pray you feel loved, today and evermore
If we could return to what we had way back then
When I first fell in love,
May our paths cross again
