Dickie’s Dead Poem by Lewis Eron

Dickie’s Dead

from Richard Snell Wood 1951-2010

Dickie’s dead!
Though no one called him “Dickie”
Except Coach Mott
Who wanted him to wrestle
Because
He was small, scrappy and pugnacious.

But, Dickie had other bouts
He wrestled enough
With life
With death
With hope
With loss
With love
And lost only once.
