Dirt Road Alliance Poem by Beth DeChamplain

Dirt Road Alliance

Rating: 5.0

Do you dream of the longest stretch of gravel and dust,
and look to the mountains with the gleaming eyes of lust?
Follow me, my friend, to a road not so true;
The night holds a promise, though, and is it only to you?

Where the sun is forced to sleep; the forest is dark.
The howls of us wolves, and the cries of the lark,
are the only things that can guide you astray,
but you're in the forest now and forever you should stay.

My friend, the world outside is truly not pure,
and if you fight for your taking, it's your soul we can secure;
To the longest stretch of rough gravel and dust,
As we look upon you with the gleaming eyes of lust!

Oh yes, the promise that is held in the night,
is one of dark notations of freedom and delight.
For as us wolves force the sun to sleep,
it's soul is for our taking as we leave it to weep.

Follow me, my friend, to a road not so true!
For we've revealed you the promise; isn't the sky blue?
Does not your breath hang in the air like a paste,
that takes to the cold with a small, angered haste?

This dirt road alliance sticks to us like mud,
guides us to true freedom, and is thicker than blood.
For does not a war spread like a thunder that rolls,
and strikes like lightning as it takes wanted souls?

Please do not fear me, I will lead you away,
to the dark forest where forever you should stay.
The loudest rebellion can always revel in silence,
and remain truly safe within this dirt road alliance.
