Distressed Beauty Poem by Linus Kithinji Njeru

Distressed Beauty

Rating: 4.3

I heard the voice from a distance,
Like a mistress in distress
She was calling out to anyone
She was begging for acceptance.

Any one feeling simple accept prudence
Understanding being bestowed on fools
Be right any one unjust and perverse
The crooked void of knowledge entrance

Her understanding of no comparison,
Her value more precious than rubies,
Your desires can not take her measure
Good council free of pride or arrogance

Her beauty baffled me at sight,
My estates enjoyed wealth and prosperity
In me the see power and might
I drunk in the well of wisdom waters.
