Dream Castle - Poem by Aminath Neena

Once, upon a dreamy night
I had a vision
Of a magnificent castle
As bright as the moon
Shimmering against the crystal clear lagoon
The blue sapphire of its walls reflected
On my awestruck face, as I stared
Its doors glittered with rubies
Through the open windows
Velvet curtains of the luscious greens ruffled
Studded with jade and emerald
Its golden chandeliers gleamed
My vision temporarily blinded
Surrounding its myriad opaqueness
Were slender reeds as floating jewels of blueness
One breathtaking panorama, had I glimpsed
Of a luminous coral garden, enchanted
With uplifted arms holding scented blooms
Of roses, dahlias and pink lilies
Tinted with golden thread
And silver leaves embellished
Their delicate petals
Opening and folding rhythmically
Their fragrance reaching my nostrils involuntarily
As thousands of air bubbles
Rising to the surface in a cloud of mist
Just then white Sea horses pushing a chariot
Their eyes socketed with flaming garnets
They sailed towards me in hoards
The encrypted notes of their murmurs
Reaching my ears as electromagnetic codes
And every inch of my body quivered
With longing to reach them
For I knew as bright as daylight
That it was my time as determined
They were coming to take me into their home
The terrestrial home of my species
And the golden dream of every woman
The world of fantasy where she reigned
As the queen of a man's heart
But just as the float soared
With my throne to the surface
And as I bent down to reach the edifice
An intruder pushed me from behind
And I plunged headlong into the mystic vent
Causing a huge ripple in the satiny carpet
And I lost my dream castle
And today as I lie on the familiar tapestry
I am still haunted by the strange memory
And I mourn for the loss of what could have been
On the night I dreamt of the satiny sheen
