I dont mean to offend anybody, but I don't like this poem at all. Yes, the meaning behind it is slightly inspiring. The words themselves, however, are too simple and childish. The rhyming sounds forced and I'm certain my 11 year old sister could have thought up this poem. not to say I don't like Langston Hughes; some of his poems are good. But this is not one of them. Is that really a poem?
Seems like a quote of six lines...
    Does NOT deserve #4

I love this poem and I love Langston Hughes. The brevity of the poem, its conciseness deliver the message powerfully. Had it been longer it might have not had the same impact. (Report) Reply
