Dry Leaves Poem by Tanni Bose

Dry Leaves

Rating: 5.0

Oh! Dry leaves! how swift you dart,
How quick and light your pace?
Where’s your destination, where do you heed?
It’s hard for me to trace.

You tremble and quiver in fear of decay
Dried out and scorched within
Waiting for the hands of justice
To deliver your life from pain.

I know, your time has drawn closer,
Nothing can stop you perish.
Thunder and lightning call from above,
Escorting you to bliss.

Now, thunder and lightning cease,
Drops of rain fall,
Lively objects reinstate splendour,
But you fail to embrace it at all.

I hear you sob and call lightning,
To draw closer and cuddle you
For it would open the door of freedom,
And avert your decay.

But your call goes unheard-

Raindrops are futile for you,
It makes you wretched more.
You fail to attain glory,
And rot in the earth as before.

I would love to depart,
With no trace of elixir in me,
Than to have an unfortunate life,
With aversion towards oneself indeed.
