Ayobami Idowu

Epilogue To Him - Poem by Ayobami Idowu

I feel like tears that have forgotten to cry
Words that have forgotten to speak
The desert wind searching for rain
Joy when it discovers pain

Is there no hope for me
For once can't I have my destiny
When I found him last he chose to leave
For once can't he choose to be with me

Desolate remnants haunt me
And the touch of his arm taunts me
with a picture too wicked to speak
and a sound too distant to reach

Is this it?
My tragedy!
Of love loving hate in irony
Could this be right?
Can you hate while you love,
Throwing my joy in agony

Here I am at the final hour
Resignation becoming my only power
I discover that hate has no strenght to love
Unlike love who loves endlessly

I will forever love him
No longer waiting, but still loving
While he (My Destiny) will continue to hate

Remember, Hate has no strength to love
While love loves endlessly
