Everything (Everyone) - Poem by Laura Dunne

Everything
is not how it was before
it's not how i remember it being
was i gone that long?

Everything
is somehow different
everybody has changed
no one stayed the same

Well i said goodbye to you
and now it's like i'm brand new
and everything isn't the same
i can't even say your name
without eyes glaring down at me
i must be going crazy
because everything is different
everything

everyone
acts so much different than before
there must be someone else
that they all are confusing me for

everyone
isn't how i remember them to be
they all just seem to me
like they don't know my face

well i said goodbye to you
and now it's like i'm brand new
and everyone isn't the same
i can't even say your name
without eyes glaring down on me
i must be going crazy
because everyone is different
everyone

it's not as if i changed my hair
and it's not like my skin's tan
nothing about me has changed
so what are they all starying at?
stop looking at me

so i said goodbye to you
and now i'm brand new
but everyone isn't the same
i can't even say your name
without their eyes on me
i'm going crazy
because everything is different
