Facade - Poem by Justin Schaefer

masses of emotionless automons
going through the motions of life
wearing constricting concrete masks,
a magnificent facade that they exhibit
with enflamed egos but secretly hide behind,
chipping slowly away with a blunt chisel
fine grey dust falls to the pavement
pieces of pretense fall away
only to reveal another
mask of masquerading stone
