Fallen Idol - Poem by Andy Brookes

held up paragon
with dodgy knees.

feet of clay.
a role model?

no model,
no role.

except the rolling in the hay,
in dirt.

becoming human
now there's a flaw.

I feel the pillar crumble
devastation in your eyes.

as you realise
you worshiped a false god.

leaving you wondering
where to put your faith.

None of us are perfect but the imperfect see perfection. They soon become disillusioned.10
