Fate - Poem by Mugdha Khedkar

She came in my life,
she became my friend.
We kept on believing
our friendship won't end.

Then we parted ways,
from my life she flew away,
Our bond weakened
only memories were to stay.

Life played its game,
with periodic troughs as in a wave,
I wept for her then
and she slept in her grave.

We don't know someone's value,
though we have him all along.
Only when he goes away,
we realize what went wrong.

Life traps everyone,
Its impartial, it spares none.
I realised my mistake late,
life had clearly won!

'You may win today, ' I said.
'But you'll lose next time,
I will lose never again
Everything will be fine.'

I didn't get her back,
but life taught me a lesson.
I didn't repeat my errand,
life lost, I won.

When we cross a crest, trough awaits,
When we give love, we get hate,
We get tears when we gift smiles..
Is this what is called fate?
