Fatherless - Poem by Urshula Davis

i was his sperm
his flesh and his bones
his now and his later
his last name
his seed that will oneday reproduce
his dna in a nutshell
his signature on my birth certificate
his half of his ex wife
his legacy
his trait that was carried out dominant
his child
his teen
his blood my veins
his art
his passionate creation
his least worry
his every now and then phone call
his associate
his past
his test
his 99.9 percent
but it hasn't hit him yet

A good poem with an attractive title. I didn't understand the last line:
'but it hasn't hit him yet'
Did you mean that your father did not realize how important you were to him?
