Fifteen Years Poem by Pablo Stuart

Fifteen Years

What if we had met some fifteen years ago?
Who's to say we'd be the people
So well that we now know
Would we have gone our separate ways
Never to have kissed?
Would we have lived through our days
Not knowing what we'd miss?

So as I stand before you now
Stripped of all pretence
I ask you to believe that I
Have only one intent
To see your smile
And taste your breath
Just once before I go
To hold your hand
And ease the pain
That only you can know

So look at me
Then close your eyes
And swiftly I will leave
To return and take you by the hand
In fantasy that we weave
