Captious winds of agony scorned
Blow long and hard across my face
Their chill swept bite much now forlorned
Ignored and trodden in the dirt
Cannot the icy heart once chilled
Be once again resurged
Nay!
When arctic coldness pierces souls
They are forever stilled
Cast down and bitter through the years
I’ll keep myself secured behind
The iron bars once held in place
By once upright and strong true mind
Forever through, your time is done
It’s spent and overdrawn
I’ve put up with you for long enough
And now I’m rolling on.
