For Ian - Poem by Whitney Stewart

Stay on the phone tonite,
only for one more hour
sing me sweet songs of love
tell me your heart beats solely for mine
please don't hang up
weave beautiful dreams through my sleepy head
just to get a drowsy smile
make me laugh and warm my insides
pretend telephone poles didn't seperate us
say you never want to leave,
that you could talk to me for the rest of your life
I'll trust you, only to be let down gently with your promises of love
then let the words I dread ring in me like gunshots
'Goodnight and Goodbye' parting is such sweet sorrow
for now, even though the connection is dead,
I still feel heart beats of passion deep in my soul
beating like the dial tone of a hung up phone
